Five Wedding Trends for 2025

Wedding trends. Whether you love them or hate them, they’re on every bride’s radar! If you’re working through the details of your 2025 wedding, there are some emerging trends in the industry that are as easy to implement as they are fun. Interested? Keep reading for five of the hottest wedding trends for 2025—and how you can incorporate them into your big day.

1. Creative Desserts

Gone are the days of old fashioned wedding cakes. While some elements are trending toward tradition, when it comes to desserts, wedding trends are leaning toward embracing your creativity—and your favorites! Let’s face it, even the best-tasting cakes can’t make a cake-lover out of a pie fanatic. Especially if the only time you eat cake is at an office birthday party. So have some fun!

Try this trend: Try a pie bar, s’mores stations, berry tarts, cookie platters or tiramisu bites. Do you and your new spouse love donut dates on Saturday mornings? Make your wedding dessert personal with chic donut boxes, complete with coffee bar or sprinkle station.

2. Content Creators

While wedding photographers and videographers will never go out of style, 2025 is bringing another member of the team on board: Wedding content creators. This generation of brides and grooms are trendier than ever before, complete with the desire to include real-time event updates that stream across social platforms on the rise. Wedding content creators can capture your wedding day in an authentic, unedited way, in addition to traditional photography, of course.

Tips/Tricks: If this all sounds like a challenge to juggle, start here! Wedding trends don’t need to cause headaches.

3. Aesthetic Foods and Dress Codes

In 2025, everything is being photographed and shared. Plus luxe minimalism is more popular than ever in design elements across the board. So don’t be surprised if you receive a wedding invite with instructions for a color- or style-specific dress code—and a menu with a similar palette! Gen Z brides are prioritizing their aesthetic with wedding trends to match, even asking guests to dress according to the wedding design as a way of incorporating their look and feel right down to the last detail.

Try this trend: Use green foods (think leafy salads and matcha ice cream scoops) at your reception in lieu of decorating with greenery.

4. Film Photography

Digital wedding trends are on the rise in some cases, but in others, vintage vibes are back with a vengeance. That said, there’s something about the raw imperfections of film photography that trending filters can’t replicate. These photos capture honest moments with a uniquely candid feel.  While film photography won’t ever replace the need for a traditional professional wedding photographer, having an additional photographer on hand with some 35mm film is something we’ll see a lot of in 2025.

Did you know? It’s not uncommon at all to have more than one photographer at your wedding. There’s a lot of information out there, and I can help you navigate it all here

5. Local Ceremonies

A destination wedding? In this economy? But seriously, in 2025, it’s going to be a big ask. Instead, couples are embracing their love story, which usually centers around their hometowns or current city rather than an extravagant getaway location. Wedding trends are leaning toward backyard ceremonies, local vendors, and favors from small businesses, which can all work together to create a more intimate event—even if the guest list isn’t so small.

Try this trend: Are you a Colorado bride-to-be? Send me a message! I’ve worked as a wedding photographer in this beautiful city for more than a decade. I’ve scouted some of the best locations for hometown weddings, receptions, and portrait shoots. Let’s bring your vision to life!
