Fox Run provides a fairytale forest backdrop. There’s soft filtered lighting, and a panoramic view of Pikes Peak, all in one easily-accessible spot. I like to choose this 417-acre park over higher-altitude mountain overlooks because of its versatility and unique aesthetic features, like Aspen Lake and the Lakeside Gazebo. The park also adapts beautifully to every season, offering lush green meadows and blooming wildflowers in the summer, golden warm foliage in the autumn, and a peaceful, snowy wonderland vibe in the winter.

2. Black Forest

Black Forest is a perfectly secluded, woodsy setting with beautiful light filtered through the dense canopy of Ponderosa pines. It serves as a distinct, rustic alternative to the dominant red-rock landscapes found elsewhere in the city, without requiring a drive deep into the Rocky Mountains.
